It is not uncommon for little kids to ask their parents about themselves. Children of all ages love to hear stories about their younger selves. My little guy regularly reminds me regularly that he used to say “bargage” instead of “garbage,” and reminds me that I was sad when he started saying it correctly because he was “so cute.” The stories we tell to and about our children are one of many factors that shape them and their understanding of intergenerational relationships. I grew up being reminded of the way my grandmother described me running around the house when I was a toddler: “She looks like she has 100 guests coming and has nothing ready!” And yes, I was, and still am, a busybody.
