Recent wellness trends that emphasize over-assertiveness and unapologetic boundary setting can temporarily restore a sense of control for individuals, but often heighten disconnection and resentment, especially among clients with attachment or trauma histories. Many clients end up in therapy after such self-help tools and trends lose their effectiveness.
This workshop examines how self-focused theories such as the “Let Them” trend has shaped client expectations and relationships. Integrating attachment and cognitive-behavioral frameworks, it offers clinicians a structured approach to identify when self-focus serves adaptive regulation versus when it impedes relational growth. Participants will learn evidence-informed strategies to cultivate a curious, compassionate stance in their clients, that will motivate connection and sustainable change.
